Corporate reporting advise
Technical judgement,
proof behind every answer.
When the answer is not obvious from the standard alone, we bring the technical judgement, interpretation and supporting rationale needed to reach a position you can use with confidence.
Overview
A technical specialist alongside your finance team, for as long as you need one.
Some reporting questions can be answered by referring to the standard. Others depend on the facts, the transaction, the wider reporting context and the judgement applied to them. W.consulting works alongside finance teams to resolve those less straightforward questions. We interpret the requirements, work through the implications and document the reasoning clearly, so you have a position that can be explained to auditors, boards and other stakeholders.
What an engagement can look like
- A single question One specific judgement or technical query, considered and referenced.
- A review An independent technical review of a position, paper or reporting treatment you have already prepared.
- Cycle support Specialist support alongside your team through part or all of a reporting cycle.
- A second opinion An independent view where you want additional assurance around a position already taken.
Service routes
Different questions. The same standard of technical judgement.
The right starting point depends on the issue in front of you. Our advisory work spans technical reporting, valuation and sustainability, with specialists brought in according to the question that needs to be resolved.

Common questions
How does an advisory engagement usually start?
With a short conversation. We will ask about the issue, the context, your timing and what you need from us. From there, we can recommend the most appropriate level of support and confirm the scope before work begins.
Do you take on one-off technical questions?
Yes. Not every issue requires a lengthy engagement. We can help with a single technical question, or second opinion, as well as provide ongoing support through a reporting cycle.
Will we know who is working on our engagement?
Yes. We believe direct access to the right expertise matters. You will know who is responsible for your work and who to speak to as the engagement progresses.
Can you work alongside our auditors?
Yes. We can help you prepare and document a position paper for discussion with your auditors and, where appropriate, participate in those discussions alongside your team. Our role is to make the technical reasoning clear and well supported.
Can you review work we have already prepared?
Yes. We can assess a proposed treatment, technical paper or set of financial statements, identify areas that may need further consideration and help strengthen the supporting rationale.
Do you work with organisations globally?
Yes. W.consulting has offices in South Africa, Mauritius and the United Kingdom and works with clients across Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific.
Not sure where to start?
You do not need to diagnose the technical issue before you contact us. Tell us what you are working through and we will help establish the right starting point.
