Privacy policy

What personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Last updated 16 September 2026.

1. Who we are

W.consulting provides corporate reporting advisory and specialist training services from offices in South Africa, Mauritius and the United Kingdom. In this policy, "W.consulting", "we", "us" and "our" means Wconsulting (Pty) Ltd, registration number [REGISTRATION NUMBER], of Building B, Monte Circle Office Park, 178 Montecasino Boulevard, Fourways, Johannesburg, 2191, and its related entities.

We are the responsible party (controller) for the personal information described here. We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Mauritian Data Protection Act 2017.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us. Your name, work email address, phone number, company, job title and anything you include when you complete a form, request a download, book a meeting, register for a course or contact us.

Information we collect automatically. When you use our website or open our emails, we collect technical and usage information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, downloads, and whether you open or click our emails. We collect this through cookies and similar technologies (see section 8).

Information from others. Where your employer registers you for training or engages us for advisory work, we receive your details from them.

We do not intentionally collect special personal information, and we ask that you do not send it to us.

3. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • respond to enquiries and requests for meetings
  • deliver the downloads, services and training you ask for
  • administer course registrations, attendance, CPD records and certificates
  • send you updates you have opted in to receive
  • improve our website, content and services
  • meet our legal, regulatory and professional obligations

4. Our lawful basis

We process your information because:

  • you have given consent, for example to receive marketing email
  • it is necessary to perform a contract with you or your employer, or to take steps before entering one
  • it is necessary to comply with a legal obligation
  • it is in our legitimate interests to run and improve our business, where those interests are not overridden by your rights

Where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time, without affecting processing that has already taken place.

5. Marketing

We only send marketing email where you have agreed to receive it. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can change what you receive at any time on our email preferences page. We will still send service messages such as course confirmations, receipts and replies to your enquiries.

6. Sharing your information

We never sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • service providers who run our website, CRM, email, event booking and payment systems, under contracts that restrict how they may use it
  • professional bodies, where needed to record CPD or certification
  • professional advisers, auditors and insurers
  • regulators, courts or law enforcement where the law requires it

Our website, forms and email are run on HubSpot. More information is available in HubSpot's own privacy policy.

7. International transfers

Because we operate across South Africa, Mauritius and the United Kingdom, and some of our service providers store data in other countries, your information may be transferred across borders. Where this happens we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as contractual protections or transfers to countries with adequate data protection laws, as required by POPIA and GDPR.

8. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to make our website work, remember your preferences, understand how the site is used and measure the effectiveness of our communications. Strictly necessary cookies are always on. You can accept or decline other cookies through the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings link or your browser settings. Declining some cookies may affect how parts of the site work.

9. How we protect your information

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, including access controls, encryption in transit and supplier due diligence. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your rights, we will notify you and the relevant regulator as the law requires.

10. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as the law requires. As a guide:

  • enquiry and contact records: up to two years after our last interaction
  • training, attendance and certification records: for the period professional bodies require
  • client engagement records: for the period required by law and professional standards
  • marketing records: until you unsubscribe, after which we keep a suppression record so we do not contact you again

11. Your rights

Depending on where you are, you have the right to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy
  • ask us to correct or update it
  • ask us to delete it, where we have no legal reason to keep it
  • object to or restrict our processing, including for direct marketing
  • withdraw consent at any time
  • receive your information in a portable format, where applicable
  • lodge a complaint with a regulator

To exercise any of these rights, email legal@wconsulting.co.za. We may need to verify your identity first. We aim to respond within 30 days.

12. Complaints

Please contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern. You also have the right to complain to:

  • South Africa: the Information Regulator, inforeg.org.za
  • United Kingdom: the Information Commissioner's Office, ico.org.uk
  • Mauritius: the Data Protection Office, dataprotection.govmu.org

13. Children

Our website and services are intended for professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
