IFRS VALUATIONS

Valuations that stand up to scrutiny.

From purchase price allocations to impairment testing and share-based payments, we connect the valuation work to the reporting requirement behind it. You get the analysis, the assumptions and the supporting rationale needed to understand the result and take it through review.

Where are you now?

Start with what has triggered the valuation.

You do not need to define the valuation methodology before you speak to us. Start with the transaction, reporting requirement or question in front of you.

  • We have acquired a business We need to identify and value the assets and liabilities arising from the transaction.
  • We need to test an asset for impairment We need a valuation that supports the assumptions and conclusions behind the impairment assessment.
  • We have issued share-based payments We need to determine the appropriate valuation and support the accounting treatment.
  • Our auditors are challenging a valuation We need to review the assumptions, methodology or supporting rationale.
  • We need a model for a reporting requirement We need financial modelling that translates the technical requirement into a usable calculation.

OUR APPROACH

The numbers matter. So does how you got there.

IFRS VALUATIONS

Valuation expertise connected to the reporting requirement.

A valuation does not sit separately from the accounting question it supports. The assumptions, methodology and resulting numbers need to make sense within the wider reporting context. W.consulting brings valuation and corporate reporting expertise together, so the work considers both the calculation and how the conclusion needs to be applied and explained.

  • 01 PURCHASE PRICE ALLOCATIONS Valuation support following an acquisition, aligned to the accounting and reporting requirements of the transaction.
  • 02 IMPAIRMENT TESTING Support with valuations, assumptions and modelling underlying impairment assessments.
  • 03 SHARE-BASED PAYMENTS Valuation work to support the accounting for relevant share-based payment arrangements.
  • 04 FINANCIAL MODELLING Models developed around specific valuation and financial reporting requirements.

How we work

From requirement to supported valuation.

  1. Understand the requirement

We clarify the transaction, reporting question, timing and the information available.

  2. Build and test the valuation

We determine the appropriate approach, work through the assumptions and complete the supporting analysis.

  3. Document the conclusion

You receive the valuation and supporting rationale in a form that can be taken through internal and external review.

THROUGH REVIEW

Technical work that can be explained, not just delivered.

The valuation is often only one part of the process. Finance teams also need to understand the assumptions, respond to questions and explain how the conclusion was reached.

Our role is to make the reasoning behind the work clear and to support the technical discussion where appropriate.

Common questions

Answers before you ask.

When should we bring you into a transaction?

Earlier is generally more useful, particularly where the valuation will inform a reporting treatment or needs to fit within a wider transaction timetable. Start by telling us what has happened and the deadline you are working towards.

Can you review a valuation we already have?

Yes. An engagement may involve a new valuation or an independent review of work already prepared, depending on the question you need answered.

Can you help if our auditors have raised questions?

Yes. We can review the valuation, assumptions and supporting rationale and help you work through the technical issues that have been raised.

Do you only work on IFRS valuations?

The current site proposition is centred on valuations arising from corporate reporting requirements. Where the requirement falls outside that scope, we would first establish whether W.consulting is the right fit.
